            SB 222 AIDEA OPERATIONS/PROJECTS/LOANS

CHAIRMAN SHARP brought up SB 222 as the next order of business
before the Senate State Affairs Committee. There is a State
Affairs Committee substitute for this bill. Committee members have
been provided with an explanation of the changes in the committee
substitute. The Snettisham section is the same as in the original
version. The Red Dog or Delong Mountains section is exactly the
same. The one section that was modified at the request of the
chairman is the proposal to guarantee loans in which banks are
involved and AIDEA has a piece of the action. AIDEA would have
guaranteed the principal and the interest if the loan went into
default. The chairman thinks that was a little overboard, so that
was taken out of the committee substitute. He asked for a motion
 to adopt the committee substitute.

 Number 215

SENATOR RANDY PHILLIPS made a motion to adopt the Senate State
Affairs Committee substitute for SB 222.

CHAIRMAN SHARP, hearing no objection, stated the committee
substitute for SB 222 was adopted. He stated that since the bill
will go to two other committees, he would certainly entertain a
 motion to move the bill.

SENATOR RANDY PHILLIPS made a motion to discharge SB 222 from the
Senate State Affairs Committee with individual recommendations.

 Number 205

CHAIRMAN SHARP, hearing no objection, stated SB 222 was discharged
from the Senate State Affairs Committee.
